The Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge NYThe Brooklyn Bridge has always been a popular tourist attraction. The first time we went to New York from CT we took the train into Grand Central Station, and we spent all day just walking around.

These pictures were taken from a pier in southern Manhattan. As you can see it is getting towards sunset, and yes, we were already lost.

Lost on Broadway
We thought if we could only find our way back to Broadway we would be okay. Not! We did find Broadway, but actually waited for a bus to take back up to Midtown because we were so tired from walking.

Brooklyn Skyline Picture
I recently saw a movie again that features the Brooklyn Bridge, oh yes, it was Kate and Leopold.

Anyway, the center picture is of what you would call downtown Brooklyn, I guess. Mostly old industrial buildings, we got lost there several times.

Brief Brooklyn Bridge History
They say that when the Brooklyn Bridge opened, you had to pay three cents to cross it until it was paid for.

It took them 14 years to build the Brooklyn bridge. It was was completed in May of 1883.
